~History~
In September 2005, Christian Families Educating Together (CFET) an educational charity, bought the three acre Beauchamp House site. This purchase enabled the Gloucester based "School of the Lion" to relocate in the attractive rural surroundings.
The previous owners Alan and Caroline Lumsden had made Beauchamp House
their family home since 1981. It was the Lumsden's enthusiasm and expertise
in music that sparked the development of educational facilities on the site.
A former dairy became classrooms for music tuition and a purpose-built hall
was constructed for music courses and concerts.Beauchamp House international
music courses became a regular feature of the summer months for music lovers.
These courses continue to be run by the Gloucester Academy of Music.
As recently as 1965, Beauchamp House was operating as a dairy farm, run by the Vick family.
Reference is made to Beauchamp House in Volume 10 of "A History of the County of Gloucester"
"A house standing by itself further east was formerly called Cursleys Farm, its name being changed to Beauchamp House in the early 19th century. There was a house on the site by 1516 and perhaps by 1267 when William de Corsliche was one of the tenants of Churcham manor. The house was rebuilt shortly before 1740 as a two-storied brick building with a central gabled projection; the sash windows and the round-headed window in the central projection may have been added later."
